Neurotologist

Location: Baton Rouge, LA

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Neurotologist to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals. As a Neurotologist, you will specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the ear, hearing, balance, and related structures of the head and neck. You will work closely with patients to provide comprehensive care, utilizing advanced medical techniques and state-of-the-art technology to achieve optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  1. Diagnose and treat disorders of the ear, hearing, and balance systems, including but not limited to:
    • Otosclerosis
    • Meniere's disease
    • Acoustic neuroma
    • Vestibular schwannoma
    • Cholesteatoma
    • Conductive and sensorineural hearing loss
    • Tinnitus
    • Vertigo
    • Facial nerve disorders
    • Skull base tumors
  2. Perform comprehensive evaluations, including physical examinations, audiometric testing, vestibular assessments, and imaging studies (CT, MRI).
  3. Develop personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs, which may include medical management, surgical intervention, or rehabilitative therapy.
  4. Perform surgical procedures such as:
    • Cochlear implantation
    • Mastoidectomy
    • Stapedectomy
    • Labyrinthectomy
    • Vestibular nerve section
    • Tympanoplasty
    • Canaloplasty
  5. Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, ensuring patient comfort and understanding throughout the treatment process.
  6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including otolaryngologists, audiologists, neurosurgeons, and rehabilitation specialists, to deliver comprehensive care.
  7. Stay abreast of advancements in the field of neurotology through continued education, research, and participation in conferences and professional organizations.
  8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, documenting patient encounters, treatment plans, and outcomes in compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements:

  1. Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  2. Completion of residency training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
  3. Fellowship training in Neurotology.
  4. Board certification or eligibility in Otolaryngology and Neurotology.
  5. State medical licensure in Louisiana (or eligibility to obtain).
  6. Strong diagnostic and surgical skills, with a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and educate patients.
  8. Dedication to ongoing professional development and staying current with advancements in the field.
